MY Profile

I’m a third generation farmer who spent nearly three decades working the land alongside my father and uncle. From 1971 to 1997 I poured my heart into that farming operation, and when they passed it took another three years to wind things down and transition the land into new hands. Farming teaches you patience, resilience, and how to work with what nature gives you — lessons that would serve me well in ways I never expected. In 2005 my doctor delivered news that would change everything — a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. His advice was simple: lose weight and get moving. What happened next surprised even me. I became a ballroom dancer. That decision opened a door to an entirely new world. The rhythm, the discipline, the community — it sparked something creative in me that I hadn’t known was waiting. Before long I found myself drawn to art and photography, exploring ways of seeing and expressing the world around me. Now at 76, with twenty years of navigating type 2 diabetes under my belt, I’m adding another chapter — exploring artificial intelligence and Linux, building this little corner of the internet to share what I’ve learned in plain simple terms. The adventures continue indeed.

My Disclaimer

I want to be straightforward with you. I write about food and diet, Type 2 diabetes, Apple software, and using AI to help manage my health. These are my personal experiences, thoughts, and the resources I’ve found helpful along the way. Nothing I share here is medical advice. I’m not a doctor, dietitian, or health professional. Please consult your own healthcare team before making any changes to your health or diet. I also don’t carry any political or religious views or endorsements here. That’s not what this space is about. I choose the tools I use based on my values. That includes the AI tools I write about and recommend. I believe the companies and technologies I reference should be transparent, ethical, and accountable — and I’ll always be upfront with you about why I use what I use. What this is about is sharing ideas, tools, and resources to expand your thinking and open doors to further learning. Everything I put out is meant to be a starting point — not the final word. I’ve made mistakes, and I own that. I’m not perfect and I’m not pretending to be. What I can promise is honesty. Do your own research. Question everything — including me. The goal is for you to walk away more informed and more curious than when you arrived.
